JUST NOW: You will watch this Dylan Larkin goal at least 50 times

The Detroit Red Wings are hosting the struggling LA Kings at Little Caesar’s Arena tonight and the future captain of the Red Wings is putting on a pure clinic.

You can’t just teach vision like that. You’re born and bred with it. That type of anticipation, seeing and knowing where the puck is at every instance while being aware where each player is on the ice and where they want to move the puck at every given moment, is what separates the elite NHL players from the superstars.

This is the kind of play you won’t just see any Dan or John on the ice pull off. It’s only a matter of time before Larkin gets that official “C” on his jersey and joins one of the most elite captaincy groups in hockey history. Players like Sid Abel, Ted Lindsay, Gordie Howe, Alex Delvecchio, Steve Yzerman, Nicklas Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg have donned the elusive and coveted title of captain of the Detroit Red Wings. It’s a title that means so much that the organization was willing to go with no captain this season to uphold the integrity of the position until somebody proves themselves worthy.

Well, Dylan Larkin is that worthy player who is next in line. Born and raised in Michigan, former Michigan Wolverine and now Detroit Red Wing, if Larkin ever leaves this great state I’m not sure I’ll be able to handle it but honestly there’s no chance in hell he ever flakes. Give that boy the “C,” he has earned it and has proven that he will uphold its legacy over the next decade.

The dipsy-do you just witnessed put the Red Wings up 3-0 at the end of the second period and will undoubtedly come out of this affair with two points. I’ve never been afraid of jinxes and I won’t start now. Two points. Put this one in the bag. The drive to the playoffs stays rolling.
